The Imperial Villa

The visit will start from Hadrian’s Villa Commissioned by the Emperor Hadrian (76-138), that is located in Tivoli (ancient Tibur), the Emperor Hadrian a  cultured and educated man and lover of the East and Greece built here with pomposity, a villa in Tivoli where things were reproduced with names of the most famous places and provinces of the empire, such as the Lyceum, the Academy, the Prytaneion, the city of Canopus, the Pecile and the Valle of Tempe ; the search for statues and marbles through excavations  were made by Pope Alexander VI Borgia, then by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, then by Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este, for whom Pirro Ligorio withdrew large amounts of materials destined both to the villa at Tivoli and Rome, the visit will continue to Villa d'este, a masterpiece of Renaissance villas  that was desired by Ippolito d'Este son of Lucrezia Borgia and Alfonso d’Este,  it is adorned with statues and precious marbles from Valli Adriana and quickly it became a place of delights and a destination for a great deal of artists and scholars of the time.
