Gandolfo Castle and Grottaferrata Castle

The tour will start from Gandolfo Castle the imperial residence and papal villa, the former summer residence of the popes built in 600 on the remains of a Roman villa, inside you can admire the volcanic lake and picturesque typical streets of the Roman city, you can visit the village with its typical shops and the old cellars. The tour will continue to the castle of Grottaferrata where we will find inside the famous Byzantine monastery of 1004, their stories are woven from new to ancient, in fact, it was built on the remains of a cryptoporticus of the first century BC in the Roman era but then modified in the Byzantine style.
