The Imperial House
Purchased by the State since 1986, the Villa dei Quintili was the largest and most sumptuous residence of the Roman suburbs, the outskirts of Rome. The original nucleus belonged to the Quintili brothers who were consuls in 151 A.D., then the core of the villa was enlarged when the villa became imperial property under the emperor Commodus. The Emperor Commodus loved to live there because of the tranquility of the countryside and the benefits of the thermal baths present in the villa, the most imposing building is composed of the Masters Quarters and the servants quarters: a circular building, a series of rooms and two large thermal caldarium and frigidarium. The monument overlooks with a terrace the Roman countryside and offers a panorama that throughout time has inspired many famous artists. The visit will start from the villa museum that enclose famous statues belonging to the villa.
